Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt Season 2 Review

Name(s): Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt / 機動戦士ガンダム サンダーボルト 2
Format: Original net animation [ONA] (4 21-minute episodes)
Studio(s): Sunrise

Not as good as the first season. Completely lacks momentum and an implied end goal, which in the first was the final confrontation between Io and Daryl. This mission-based structure retains much of the appeal of the first season’s excellently choreographed action and minimal, no-nonsense storytelling, but without anticipation behind the events the tension can’t build. This ends up in a season that plateaus over time.
