The Amityville Horror Review

Boy, oh boy, it sucks how you can’t rely on professional critics for horror. Especially old works like this that barely receive reevaluation. Old codgers complaining a horror movie is too “dreary” and “depressing” does nothing to give you an honest take on The Amityville Horror‘s quality. Then it ends up just being decent. The Shining would take many of its subjects and surpassing both their intensity and subtlety just a year later. Still, it’s worth acknowledging which came first.
