The fact that there are actually people who view this as “dark” or “badass” only goes to show how ridiculous the preceding Batman movies were. Michael Keaton possesses none of the stature required of Bruce Wayne or Batman, and Jack Nicholson never feels threatening or even crazy enough. It’s difficult to be in awe of Batman in any scene when he has such difficulty moving around in his costume. The whole movie looks ugly too, like it’s inside of a chemical plant. Kind of fun—mostly boring.
