Your mileage may vary, since the concept of being buried alive terrifies me. As far as I’m concerned, Buried does a fine job of narrowing in on that sense of helplessness. This isn’t my ideal take on the premise, particularly because of some directing choices. Having a busy musical score isn’t how you emphasize lonely silence, obviously, and some of the trick zoomed-out camera perspectives help stylize the monotony a bit but also reveal the set’s artifice and the safety of the outside world.
