Don’t Breathe is an exercise in how to earn false resolutions, jump scares, and other horror tropes we groan about. Both lowkey and bombastic in a way that should satisfy both sides of the horror fandom. Some will, as always, cross their arms, huffing and puffing about how they “didn’t find it scary” to the amazement of no one. If you’re watching horror just for scares, you’re missing the genre’s empathetic point.
