Some incredible songs on Captain Beyond, interesting lyrics, and ferocious performances that you won’t believe came out of the early ’70s. I greatly dislike the psychedelic mastering job, however. Vocals and instruments come through different channels at different volumes. To me, it sounds hollow and flimsy, betraying the band‘s great performance that you can clearly hear. The bad mixing filters it out. I’m not sure what to rate this right now. I need to try a different mastering.
