Damon Andy Rob Ron: The Yes Girls is legitimately one of the worst albums I have ever heard. Swirlies in their prime released two of the greatest indie rock albums of the ’90s, but this is utter nonsense. I’m not even sure how you’d classify it. It certainly isn’t shoegaze or dream pop. Most of the album is complete wankery with no technical expertise, and more often than not, completely lacking melodies. It’s a complete and utter joke—one played on the listener.
Fittingly closes out with the world’s worst cover of The Police’s “Every Breath You Take.” Swirlies clearly aren’t trying anymore, so neither should you. Blonder Tongue Audio Baton and They Spent Their Wild Youthful Days in the Glittering World of the Salons are great albums, but this is worthless. Hopefully, my review stops any other Swirlies fans from giving this album a chance.
