Grungy stoner rock that does a decent job of setting itself apart from its more generic peers by adding psychedelic undertones and just generally having more great riffs than the typical ’90s hard rock album. Problems are that Monster Magnet’s long dirges generally don’t go anywhere, and Dopes to Infinity often comes across as a weaker presentation of the elements that make up Soundgarden‘s peak material.
“Negasonic Teenage Warhead” is a bluntly anti-teenage anthem, but with such a killer hook and wild spirit, it becomes exactly what it’s mocking. And I wouldn’t have that any other way. One of the best ’90s hard rock singles.
