Eat to the Beat is an appropriate follow-up to Parallel Lines. Overall not as good, but very acceptable. “Dreaming” and “Union City Blue” (my favorite Blondie song!) drive it home. “Atomic” is also great, but the album version keeps the “Three Blind Mice intro” (exactly what it sounds like) which is juvenile and uninventive, really bringing the track down. The single version removes this and it becomes a Blondie classic.
The rest of the songs are at least decent, with the exception of the last three tracks. “Sound-A-Sleep” is an attempt at a lullaby and is just as corny and out of place as it should(n’t) be. “Victor” and “Living in the Real World” are just mediocre.
Eat to the Beat is recommended to fans of Blondie, new wave, or pop.
