Like my friend edl_mota said, Fever Ray curiously sounds like Donkey Kong Country ambiance. I feel like I’m in that Gloomy Gulch world in Donkey Kong Country 2 when I listen to this, which is a compliment since Forest Interlude is my favorite song on the soundtrack. But I’m getting off track; she’s still no David Wise, heh. Comparisons to Björk are inevitable as they both use a similar vocal range, and Fever Ray possesses much of that tribal sound that Björk is often cited for.

But yeah, Donkey Kong Country music with vocals. A bit annoying vocals if you ask me, for some reason I found Karin Dreijer Andersson much more tolerable in The Knife. The sound also wears itself thin over 50 minutes and never really evolves to someplace else. I wasn’t paying that much attention to them, but I also thought the lyrics were fairly silly and it took me out of the serious-toned mysticism. Still, a very worthwhile offering.
