As visionary thrash metal band Coroner become increasingly progressive, what they lose in more memorable guitar riffs and tighter song structures they gain in some very interesting guitar tones (“Caveat (To the Coming)”) and mesmerizing grooves (“Serpent Moves”). Like all of Coroner’s albums, Grin comes recommended and is still a quality work, if not as focused as their previous trilogy of excellent albums.

Coroner have no album as atmospheric as Grin, that’s for certain. However, it sounds somewhat like a transitional album to a masterpiece that was never made. Such a shame.
