The first disc of Lifeforms is some truly great stuff. But it all falls apart fast as soon as you hit the second disc, which feels like a collection of ideas in the same style but not up to the same quality as the first disc. Stuff any other artist would have thought was not good enough to include on the actual album and keep it off.
As such, Lifeforms goes on for too long which really hurts the overall experience. The quality dive is so obvious it makes me think they could have at least improved it a bit by spreading the quality tracks apart more evenly, assuming they had to keep them. Maybe it’s just as good in the second half and it’s just me. I got bored of the sound. But that wouldn’t be much better.
