My recommendation is to always explore the origins of your favorite genres. You’ll often find more unique or experimental releases from works released before the genre was established, because they’re the works of people trying to stretch boundaries. They’re not following trends after the fact and boxing themselves in. One can cover the original footprints as much as they want, but underneath is still ground someone else walked on first. Truly pioneering art stays maverick even after their time has come and gone. Damn, no one is even going to read this review, are they?
