Pretty good. What Neurosis lose in character with Scott Kelly’s post-hardcore vocals becoming deeper and more in line with traditional sludge metal vocalists, they gain in sound. Through Silver in Blood is their most cohesive and original album yet.

True to its name, the riffing and atmosphere on this album is chrome-like and metallic. It’s not cold; it’s not even inherently oppressive. It’s just neutral; modern. The heavy underground of a large city dotted with overbearing skyscrapers. As a modern, contemporary, “city guy,” listening to this album is actually really refreshing.
