If you follow me on Bluesky, you might have seen me announce my partnership with Old School Gamer Magazine (OSGM). I contributed my first article for them in May 2025, titled Disney Magic in 16-Bits. It covers Capcom-developed games based on Disney properties for the Super Nintendo (SNES). This issue was themed around licensed games, which prompted my topic. You can read it here.
Full list of covered games.
- The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse (SNES)
- Goof Troop (SNES)
- Aladdin (SNES)
- The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minnie (SNES)
- Disney’s Magical Quest 3 Starring Mickey & Donald (GBA)
Magical Quest 3 wasn’t released in North America until a Game Boy Advance port. Because OSGM is aimed at Americans, I chose to cover that version. My understanding is that both versions are basically identical anyways. My article is roughly 1,000 words as per request, and I supplied my own screenshots. Many will see it as a modest endeavor, but I spent hours on this project and I’m proud of what I achieved given my restrictions.
OSGM paid me for my work, so I’m unable to share Disney Magic in 16-Bits here. If you’d like to read it, you can purchase a subscription to OSGM here. I believe the free option doesn’t give access to the issue with my article, but the paid option should give you the whole back catalogue.
While I’m technically biased, I have read both physical and digital variations of the magazine and can attest to its quality. I find the subscription price to be more than fair, especially to reinforce the value of professional writing, which is currently in jeopardy. I also have plans for future articles with OSGM, so subscribing will let you read those as soon as possible!
If you end up purchasing a subscription to OSGM, you have my personal thanks, and I would love to hear your feedback on both the magazine and my writing.
In you’re considering hiring me for a writing job, this and other professional work can be read on my portfolio. A link and password to my portfolio can be found on my resume.
A big thank you to everyone who has followed my work so far, and further gratitude for your patience as I attempt to juggle professional endeavors, personal projects, and the rest of my life. No matter what, bigger and better things are always on the horizon!
