Macross 7 Plus is a series of 12 shorts averaging two to three minutes showing backstories, the daily lives of some characters, or Fire Bomber music videos. The funniest thing about these shorts is that they’re possibly more enjoyable to watch than the main series, which was more content, much of it recycled, for 49 episodes.

Given that each episode of the series starts with a one-minute recap, you could easily find 25 unnecessary minutes of the show to insert these shorts in, and it would (mildly) improve everything. It’s almost unbelievable that they give us important backstory here instead of the place it would matter most. Just goes to further show how nonsensical Macross 7 could be.

You may as well watch these if you’ve seen the series, because they do add to it.
