With Mob Psycho 100, One Punch Man creator ONE is more in his element writing for something that isn’t conceptually farcical, but he shows his limits as a writer when he falls back into battle shonen cliches.

Name(s): Mob Psycho 100 / Mob Psycho Hyaku / Mob Psycho One Hundred / モブサイコ100
Format: TV series (12 24-minute episodes)
Studio(s): Bones

Original Publication: N/A (unknown)

Mob Psycho 100 off excellently, but near the finale delves into generic battle shonen territory, losing a lot of what made it originally special (this should sound familiar) Very disappointing final act overall, but not without great highlights. It’s possible ONE just doesn’t know how to write a climax without explosions, and hopefully that’s not the case in the future stories, but I have my reservations. I definitely plan on watching the rest of the series sometime.
