Redline is the very pinnacle. It embodies climax, style, beauty, passion, fun, and love. This whole movie is one big fucking rainbow explosion and it tries constantly to reach beyond the limits of a physical medium. I know I’m probably sounding pretentious or crazy, but that’s the only way I feel I can do justice to Redline.

There might never, ever be hand-drawn animation better, let alone as good as Redline. This is Akira for the next generation. Hell, I’m inclined to say it’s even better than Akira. It uses the best of modern animation infrastructure while still adhering to a classic hand-drawn style. No bullshit, just pure love and hard work.

The world itself is so much fun and inviting that you’ll want to die after it’s over because it’s back to real life which is way too fucking slow. Oddly enough, Redline is more of an F-Zero anime than the F-Zero anime itself. The music kicks ass too, because this is Redline we’re talking about, and everything kicks ass. If you have any appreciation for animation as a style of conveying emotions, watch this.
