Innocent, psychedelic “down-the-rabbit-hole” female-led pop of the early ’60s recreated through fuzzy synthesizers, which also occasionally imitate the baroque string arrangements of the time, lifting this otherwise somber material. Pretty wonderful, even if the songs on The Book Lovers EP are fairly interchangeable. Broadcast would develop more of their own style over time.
