Here Are The Sonics!!! is the 1965 debut album by The Sonics. Considered very influential to both punk music and garage rock, the album receives near universal acclaim. But helping to pioneer some burgeoning genres does not alone make this a great album. For starters, 8 out of its 12 songs are covers, and while the lo-fi production makes this one of the earliest garage rock albums, the album is too overly derivative of ’50s rock and roll to be anything exceptionally fresh.

A fairly minor piece of history when compared to acts such as The Stooges and Monks. It does have its moments, but they had enough original songs here that were good enough quality to make me think they were capable of churning out more, instead of simply doing cover songs that hardly differ from the originals other than their production value.
